Project: Translation and production of Al Mu'allaqāt, a collection of seven pre-Islamic Arabic poems, into Korean.
Goal: To preserve the cultural significance and literary beauty of Al Mu'allaqāt while adapting the text and design for a Korean audience.
My Role
As the lead designer, my responsibilities included:
Calligraphy Direction: Collaborating with a Korean calligrapher to develop a unique and authentic visual style that captured the essence of the original Arabic poetry.
Book Design: Creating a visually appealing and culturally appropriate book design that complemented the calligraphy and conveyed the historical and literary importance of Al Mu'allaqāt.
Translation Oversight: Working closely with the translation team to ensure that the Korean translation accurately conveyed the meaning and spirit of the original Arabic text.
